Inspiring musicians to go beyond the notes
Òscar’s training as an orchestral performer in orchestras & new music ensembles, coupled with his vision as an active composer and chamber music coach, feed into his ability to inspire and lead young musicians in performances of heightened expressivity and depth.
Experience & Video Material
After gaining experience as an orchestral musician, Oscar studied conducting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with the late Alan Hazeldine and Sian Edwards. A graduate violinist from the Valencia Conservatoire, Òscar was active as an orchestral and contemporary ensemble performer before pursuing a career as a composer/conductor. He was a member of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE), performing at the BBC PROMS in 1996 and worked with first class conductors such as Carlo Maria Giulini, Lutz Köhler, Gianandrea Noseda, Pablo González, Andras Ligeti, and international soloists such as M. Rostropovich, Plácido Domingo, Agnes Baltsa, Pepe Romero and Carlos Bonell. He was also a member of the Orquesta de Cámara Joaquín Rodrigo (Agustín León Ara, leader), recording for EMI, touring the Dominican Republic, París-Unesco, Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), Palau de la Música (Valencia), and the Edinburgh Festival with Sphera Ensemble Contemporani.
