Òscar continues his association with Porto PianoFest during the Festival’s 6th edition

Since 2017, Òscar offers individual coaching and group lectures and seminars on how to develop individual musical interpretations at Porto PianoFest. This festival, quickly establishing itself as a referent in Portugal, has in its faculty pianists Jean Saulnier (University of Montreal), José Ramón Méndez (Northwestern University, Chicago) and course directors Nuno Marques and Mariel Mayz (CUNY).

Schumann’s Fantasie Op.17

Apart from working with the young artists in one-to-one interpretation coachings, Òscar delivers a conference every year on how to approach the interpretation of a particular work. For the 2021 edition, the subject of the conference was Schumann’s Fantasie Op.17.

Porto Pianofest ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE program — a retreat to perform and study in beautiful Porto.

The Porto Pianofest Artist Residency Program is designed to foster artistry, creativity, and craft for emerging and professional musicians. This unique opportunity gives musicians a chance to live and work outside their usual environments, all while being surrounded by some of the best artists from around the world. Resident Artists have the chance to gain one-on-one mentoring and coaching sessions from our world-class Artist Faculty in preparation for a solo recital towards the end of the festival week. A 45-minute solo recital will be organized and promoted for each resident in Porto’s most beautiful venues. Posters and social media content will be provided, along with a professional video recording of the recital. New headshots will be arranged for each resident artist as well to use for any professional engagements thereafter.

This Residency Program is an unmissable experience for emerging musicians to perform, learn, and meditate on their instrument within a professional and encouraging environment.

The Festival accepts applications from pianists and already formed chamber groups (duos, trios, and quartets).
